The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner

The 787-8 Dreamliner will carry 210 - 250 passengers on routes of 8,000 to 8,500 nautical miles (14,800 to 15,700 kilometers).

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a super-efficient airplane with new passenger-pleasing features. The aircraft will have much larger windows than any other passenger jet.

The Dreamliner will bring the economics of large jet transports to the middle of the market, using 20 percent less fuel than any other airplane of its size.

 

 

Orders and deliveries

The first Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will be delivered in 2008.

By august 2007 already 684 orders for the Dreamliner had been placed.

In 2006 over 100 additional orders have been placed for a 787 Dreamliner: Qantas (45), Continental airlines (13), Monarch airlines (6), Kenya Airways (6), Air Pacific (5), Icelandair (2).

Boeing had 295 orders and commitments from 24 customers for the 787 by the end of october 2005.

Listed price in 2005 was between 125 and 135 million US Dollars.

Orders placed in 2005 included: Air India (27), Northwest airlines (18), Jal (17), Air China (15),  China Eastern airlines (15), Air Canada (14), Ethiopian airlines (10),  China Southern Airlines (10),  Korean Air (10), Shanghai airlines (9), Hainan Airlines (8), Continental Airlines (7),  Lot (7), First Choice airways (6), Royal Air Maroc (4), Vietnam Airlines (4),  Xiamen airlines (3), Air New Zealand (2), Icelandair (2).

Orders placed in 2004 included: ANA (20), Blue Panorama Airlines (4), Air New Zealand (2).

 

Other models of the 787 Dreamliner

The 787-9 Dreamliner will carry 250 - 290 passengers on routes of 8,600 to 8,800 nautical miles (15,900 to 16,300 km).

A third 787 family member, the 787-3 Dreamliner, will accommodate 290 - 330 passengers and be optimized for routes of 3,000 to 3,500 nautical miles (5,550 to 6,500 km).

The 787-10 would be a 777-200ER replacement.
