On 22nd April 1998 the first Boeing
737-800 was deliverd to Hapag Lloyd.
The 737-800 was the second next generation
Boeing 737 and came just after the smaller Boeing 737-700
. The larger 737-900
came much later.
By the end of 2006, Boeing had recieved 2082 orders for a 737-800.

By may 2005 some 869 boeing 737-800 had been build and all were still in service and some 389 were on order.

of the previous generation. The main competitor of the Boeing 737-800 is the Airbus A320
