Bombardier is a Canadian producer of transportation equipment: trains,
airliners, trams, ... and part of their business is the Canadian company Canadair.
Canadair produced the Challenger business jet, designed by Bill Lear
(of the LearJet) in the 1970ies. Later the revolutionary Canadair
Regional Jet was based on this design and became the succesfull CRJ-200 from 1996: a 50-seater regional jet.
After 2000 the CRJ-200 was stretched into the much longer CRJ-700 and even longer CRJ-900.
Besides this line of Regional Jets, Bombardier also produces turbo-prop airlines in 2009: the Q-400.
