Malaga Airport is located about 8km south-west of Malaga Centre and serves the Costa del Sol (Andalucia). Position 36°40´34"N, 004°29´52"W. Malaga Airport is the most southerly airport in Europe.
In 2005 Malaga airport is one of the most important in Spain with 12 Million passenger movements a year.
There is a half hour train service to Malaga City and Fuengirola from a station in front of the main terminal.
Terminal A has two floors with seperate entrances from the street. The lower floor is devoted to arrivals and the upper floor to departures. It was designed by Ricardo Bofill. Construction began in 1988 and was completed in 1991. Annual Capacity 10,000,000 with 60 check-in desks, 29 gates. With increasing passenger volumes, the airport is expanding.
