Airports of Helsinki

2001 - 2007

Finnair (AY) is specialised in flights between Helsinki (HEL) and Asia.

They still use the MD 11 in 2009, but only a few, as these aircraft are being replaced by Airbus A330/A340 aircraft.

In the afternoon and evening they have 10 widebody aircraft leaving for Asia, for most destinations on a daily basis. Destinations in 2009 are:
- China: Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing
- South Korea: Seoul
- Japan: Osaka, TokyoNagoya
- Thailand : Bangkok
- India : Delhi, Mumbai

The busiest time at HEL will be from 2 pm to 8 pm, when most of the Europe-Asia and Asia-Europe connections will be.

However, the extension to the Non-Schengen part of the terminal 2 will not be ready until autumn 2009.

This will mean quite a few bus connections to long-haul aircraft until the new gates are ready.
