The modern Chek Lap Kok airport serves many intercontinental flights. It was finished in 1998 and was considered the best airport in the world for many years during the first years of the new millenium.

In 2006 the Chek Lap Kok airport was used by 44 million passengers and 3,6 milllion tons of cargo passed through the airport.
