| Athens
international airport (ATH) was constructed
to the 2004 Olympic Games. It was brand new, and more
outside the city center. The airport is connected by
metro to the city center, but frequency is poor in
2010 and it's rather complicated with the railway
having different tickets, but using the same station.
With around 12 million passengers in 2012 and one
terminal, it's hard to get lost. |

Terminals: There is one terminal. The
Athens international airport (ATH) is the largest
airport of Greece in 2010.
Railway: the airport is connected to the Athens metro and railway network, but frequency is poor in 2010. Departures: London - Paris - Frankfurt - Munich - Brussels - ... more Airlines: Olympic - Aegean - Easyjet Location: The airport is loacted 33 km from the city center. It opened in 2001 on this new location, to replace the old airport. Passenger traffic: In 2007 over 16,5 million passengers used the airport, which was a record year, and afterwards every year the airport recieved less passengers than the pprevious year. In 2012 around 12 million passengers used the airport. Country: Athens is by far the largest city of Greece. Athens is a city with avery long history. Today it's a very large city, but with poor and unclean areas. The upper market areas of the city are near the Parliament and Mount Lycabettus. To reach the port from here, it would be a very long walk. See Athens .... It's not the city of Athens but the Island and the Sea that make Greece so beautifull. Athens photo collection >>> |
