Berlin Tegel
airport will be closed once the new Berlin
Brandenburg airport is ready. It has been a charming
airport with great terrasses to see the airliners. But
the airport doesn't offer many long haul flights. For
that you need to fly first to Frankfurt and connect
there.

Activities at this airport will be transferred to SXF. (BBI) The new airport
terminal was supposed to open in 2012, but the opening
was posponed because of technical problems with the
building. In 2013 Berlin Tegel is still doing fine,
with more and more passengers (18 million passengers).
Tegel is closer to the city center of Berlin and a
taxiride will cost around 20 euro, compared to 40 euro
is you would have to travel from the new Berlin
Brandenburg airport terminal. Also at Tegel airport
you can drive right to the gate as security isn't
centralised like in new build airport terminal
buildings.
