In 2009 Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are located in totally different
area's of the airport, with runway between them. You need a bus to get
from terminal 1 to terminal 2 in 2009.
Between 2002
and 2008 Budapest Airport increased it's passenger traffic
from around 4,4 million annualy to around 8,5 million annualy.
Terminal 1
The old terminal called terminal 1 is used by low cost airlines. It's also the only terminal in 2009 which is connected to a
railway station. This terminal was recently renovated in 2009, but it's orginal architecture goes back to many decades earlier.
Terminals 2A and 2B
The other terminal has 2 sub terminals but they are linked. It's called terminal 2A and terminal 2B.
This terminal is larger than the old one, and also is of much more
recent architecture. In september 2009 construction work was going on
between terminal 2A and 2B.
