The futuristic Theme Building (1961,
Welton Becket, Charles Luckman, William Pereira, and Paul Williams,
architects) is a modern marvel of engineering and
design, and one of the most spectacular jet-age structures in the
world.
The ground-level court includes a floor of terrazzo stars, out
of which rises a round split-level restaurant, cocktail lounge, and
observation deck providing travelers with a bird’s eye view
of
airport activities. Access to the Theme Building site is by shuttle
only due to parking restrictions.
