Emirates planned a daily flight from Los Angeles (LAX) to Dubai (DXB) with a Boeing 777-200LR in 2010.

Flight EK 216 seems to leave Los Angeles around 4:00 pm and arrive in Dubai around 7:45 pm local time. This is a next day arrival because you cross the international dateline. But, it's a daylight flight as you fly westward, although the flight will probably fly a very northern route.

The distance of 13.336 km werdward against the jetstream, is had to make with any jetliner in 2010, except the ultra long haul Boeing 777-200LR or Airbus A340-500. No other commercial airliners are easily capable of such long routes, without a payload penalty.
