Airlines: Hemus Air: a Bulgarian Aviation Company established in 1991. In 2005 the carrier employs 282 people and operates scheduled domestic and international flights as well as charter flights with a fleet of: 2 - BAE 146-200, 3 - TU-154M, 6 - TU-134A, 7 - YK-40 and 1- LET-410-UVPE. In 2005 the main destinations serviced by Hemus Air from Sofia are: Albania, Cyprus, Dubai, Germany, Greece, Lebanon, Libya, Norway, Romania, Slovakia, Syria (operated along with the Syrian Airlines). During the tourist season, the company operates charter flights to Scandinavian countries, Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Foreign aviation companies lease many of the Company's planes.
In 1998 some 1 250 700 passengers used the Sofia (SOF) airport.
