Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND)
the new US-Japan open skies agreement
four daytime HND slots
will be awarded to Taiwanese carriers for
flights between Haneda and Taipei.
Interestingly, these flights will
use Taiwan’s Songshan airport (TSA), rather than TPE.
Collectively, Japanese carriers have been granted rights for four daily
HND-TSA flights also. Both JAL and ANA have announced their intention
to apply for these rights, and are expected be awarded two daily
flights each. Up to two Taiwanese carriers may operate the route, so I
guess both China Airlines and EVA will get some of the action.
the initial new international HND slots (effective October 2010) are being awarded to nations as follows
Night-time slots (18 allocated)
: USA (4), Germany (2), Korea (2),
Singapore (2), Hong Kong (2), France (1), UK (1), Netherlands (1),
Canada (1), Malaysia (1), Thailand (1)
Day-time slots (12 allocated)
: Korea (6), Taiwan (4), Hong Kong (2)
Singapore has given both its slots to SQ for 2x daily HND-SIN service
France has given its slot to AF for CDG-HND.
Negotiations are ongoing with mainland China, and it is expected that
they will be given the majority of the remaining slots in the initial
round of allocations.
