Ferris wheel

In 1893 there was a world fair in Chicago to celebrate the 400th birthday of Columbus discovering America.

And they wanted to impress the world with something as spectacular as the Eifeltower in Paris.

An engineer from Pitsburgh, name George Ferris, invented the first giant wheel. This allowed millions of people to get up in the air before airplanes existed. Someting very spectacular.
