Guayaquivil river near historic center of Seville
The Guayaquivil River in central Seville. In the 16th century ships sailed from here. In 2010 there are no ocean going vessles at the port of Seville. Instead the city has it's Santa Justa railway station and it's nearby airport.
But Seville has also know an Arab period, which dates from before it's golden age of trade with the new world. Also this Arab period was very productive for the city and resulted in splendid architecture like the Alcazar. - Up
