Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan is a country in west -central Asia.

It became an independent country in 1991, after about 70 years as a part of the Soviet Union.

Kazakhstan has a population of 17 369 000. Most of the people are Kazakhs and Russians. Since 1997, the official capital of Kazakhstan is Astana.
