Historically the banks of the river Clyde (Clyde Walkway) have been used for shipbuilding and other industrial ventures. Also the port of Glasgow was involved with the trade of cotton and tobacco with the Americas.
Located on the North Ayrshire coast.
The harbour is Clydeports main centre for ferry traffic, with over
630,000 passengers using the Ardrossan-Brodick (Isle of Arran) crossing each year.
The inner harbour is a popular marina complex currently accommodating 250 berths.
