from Guayaquil by train to:
The Guayaquil and Quito Railway ran from the Pacific coast at Duran
across the tropical plain to Bucay.
From Bucay the serious mountain climbing to Urbina begins. This traject
goes through Huigra, Sibambe, Alausi and Riobamba.
From Urbina the line continues through the Avenue of Fire to Quito. Volcanoes line both sides of the Avenue of Fire.
